Silent Sports: Making Your Sports Car Less Conspicuous

by Earl Burton

Many people who love fast cars are often concerned about looks from other people on the road. Sports cars owners are often wary of the attention of other drivers and even law enforcement when on the highway. Car theft is also common in some areas and nice sports cars that can be driven fast are often a target.

For those who want a sports cars but less possible attention on the road, there is a solution. Here is how you can mix looks and functionality to make your sports car just as fast but less conspicuous

Go with a dark color

Dark colored cars tend to look less conspicuous and attract less attention than cars that are brightly colored. When you are shopping for a Ford Mustang, for example, take a look at vehicles that are black, blue, gray, and neutral shades. These tend to look like every other car on the road but with a much better design. This means that you do not stand out in any unnecessary way while you are parked or driving. To add more flair to your car, get the interior seats fitted with the racing look. This will provide you with a sports car look and feel while driving.

Save the sports driving for the right times

If you like using the high speeds and sports functions of your vehicle, there are places where you can enjoy driving at high speeds. Look for a race track in your area. Racetracks will allow those who wish to race their car to race against another or just drive their car at a high speed. A race track for regular cars is one of the safest places to display the horsepower of your vehicle. During regular road driving, keep your car on the normal drive function in order to keep away the tell-tale sights and sounds of a high-speed vehicle.

Decrease the volume of your exhaust

The sound that the exhaust system makes when your car is kicking up in speed is one of the reasons why sports cars attract so much attention. If you would like to decrease the noise to attract less attention, you can use an add-on silencer for this purpose or you can get a mechanic to rebuild the muffler. Either of these solutions will make for a car that is quieter while climbing speeds on the road. This puts you at a decreased risk for unwanted attention and takes down the chance of road noise on your favorite car.
